unsure about display resolution

Hi, newbie here, probably dumb question... I bought a phone. When I run AnTuTu on it it shows a display resolution of 1920x1080, but other apps like Dalvik Explorer says the screen size is 540x960. Why? Which one is correct? Is it the phone actually capable of showing 1920x1080 pixels?

Re: unsure about display resolution

Please post the device name and model number. That will give us the information we need to answer your question

Re: unsure about display resolution

From what I can tell the display is indeed 1920x1080. Other Lenovo devices have the lower resolution, so I'm not sure why you're getting conflicted information

Re: unsure about display resolution

I downloaded Android Studio, launched the Android Device Monitor and taken a screen capture with it. The picture I got has a resolution of 540x960 (I have too few posts to be able to post a link to it, sorry). So... it seems that the resolution isn't actually 1920x1080, ins't it? Or perhaps the phone uses different resolutions in different situacions? Is that possible?

Re: unsure about display resolution

I actually found it to have 720p screen.

Re: unsure about display resolution

Your phone is a Lenovo a916, not a916c. Not exactly the same model. I evaluated both before buying mine and decided for the a916c because the seller specs said it had a higher resolution... :(

It was hard to find the detail but indeed the specs stated that the A916c variant has 1080p screen.
It was easy to identify qHD(540p) and FHD (1080p) at 5.5 inches display. Try look very very close on a tiny text at your phone. If it's slightly pixelated, qHD resolution seems likely. If not, it could be 1080p.

Re: unsure about display resolution

I'm rather sure now that the screen resolution is 540x960. The same Android Device Monitor shows in the LogCat window apps trying to create big OpenGL surfaces, failing and then going for the lower resolution ones, until they have success at... 540x960.

I've been victim of a scam. Battery capacity is also lower than promised. I'm trying now to verify other of the phone specs: CPUs, RAM... For example: I've found no way to make the available memory to go below 44% (or 1814 MB, the phone was advertised as having 4 GB of RAM). If I push the phone near that point apps start to behave erratically and close themselves, etc. Is that normal? 44% is not a low memory situation, isn't it? But perhaps thats a question for another thread!

I'm pretty sure you got scammed indeed. The Asus Zenfone 2 is the only phone that has 4 gigs of RAM afaik.

It's probably more like 1 gig of RAM if it's the same as the normal A916 variant.
And no, having more than 500MB RAM free means lag free experience with apps on.

This is one of the reasons why we should bought phones from big known manufacturer and do a bit research. As a guy who (voluntary) works on phones promotion, I have seen people who loves to exaggerating things to sell a device.

Well better luck next time buddy.

Re: unsure about display resolution

Yes, you're probably right: 1 GB RAM + 1.5 GB Swap space = 2.5 GB. That's very near to the memory usage limit that I cannot pass... Or viewing it from the other side: 4 GB (theoretical memory size) - 1814 (supposedly still free space) = 2.22 GB (used RAM space). Voila...

I wonder if there's any ovbious way I can use to show that this is the case. Every app I tried so far say the phone has 4 GB of RAM, but that must be some kind of configuration trick, because the phone does not have that amount of RAM.

Exactly. This reminds me of the fake 1 TB harddisk that actually only have about 2GB storage but still show them as a full terabyte.

I'm not sure though. I don't even think your phone is genuine to be honest. I would bet that your phone doesn't even look like this. (Just a guess)
