How do I link my contact picture with my messaging apps?

"My Info" contact picture showing avatar, and in messaging app

Hey everyone. I have an annoying issue that has reoccurred multiple times now.
In my Galaxy S5, the "My Info" local profile shows the standard avatar, and only my phone number. I previously manually added my own picture, just so I would see my own picture in the messaging app.
Is there a way to link the local contact with my Google+/Facebook/Gmail picture? I have a contact entry for my own info under "Me" that I manually entered in Gmail years ago.

If it's a Google Account entry, it'll show your Google avatar. If it's a local account (Device, Phone or SIM ... well, no contacts should be, so I don't have any of those, so I can't tell you.)

It's a local account that was default on the phone. It's a local device contact. I never have any contacts saved locally, and would much rather the "My Info" contact be my Google+ Account, or preferably a contact I set.

Did you ever get rid of this? I am unable to modify/remove the "My Info" contact on my ZTE Maven, and it's bothersome. In the SMS app- my half of the thread has an "M" as the avatar, becuase this phone has this strange "My Info" contact with my phone number in it.
