How do I link my Galaxy tablet to my gmail account

I'm trying to download apps from the play store. It tells me that I don't have an android device. When I try to download a game, it says I haven't logged in through Google Play. When I use the Google Play icon it is asking me for a redeem code. I check my email, there is no redeem code. How the heck do I get one so I can download apps from the play store?

Are you signed in to Google on the Accounts screen in Settings?

You should add your Gmail Account first before using Google Play to add Gmail account. Go to settings > Accounts > Then Add your Gmail account . Once done, you can download applications via Google Play by then.
