How do I make this blinking "satellite/radio" icon, go away?

I've only noticed this since my KitKat installation-

It seems that when I do something that uses the radio (refresh my Yahoo email, check/send a text message), the little satellite icon pops and flashes (im guessing its a satellite).

This always happened before, but it would eventually just go away.

Now mine just blinks for hours on end and my concern is that its draining the battery.

Any ideas?

Check your location settings, that is your GPS icon.

For some reason, certain things turn it on and it just stays one...

What exactly am I "checking" for in my Locations settings?

certain things turn it on because they need to know your location to function.


if you go to your location settings it will show you which apps have been requesting your location.
