How do I move my Whatsapp media separately to SD Card from my device?

Moved Whatsapp media separately to SD Card from my device & it doesn't work.

I moved my Whatsapp images and Videos separately to external SD card as my device memory was getting full. I had done it before and it worked fine however, when I did it this time, it did not work and all my media and DCIM pics now come up as can't open icon on my device. I tried to connect my phone with my windows PC with all the required updates, but it does not work either. I cannot connect my device to my PC with having external card attached to it. I need to retrieve all the date from my SD card. Please help me.

There are too many problems listed for me to attempt to solve:
- you want to move your WhatsApp media to the SD card
- you can no longer see media that you moved to the SD card
- you can't see the contents of the phone when you connect it to your computer
- you can't connect the phone to the computer when the phone contains the SD
- you need to retrieve the data from your SD card

How about picking one problem to solve?
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Doesn't your computer have an SD card reader?
