How do I normalize the volume on my Android?

I have a Motorola Moto E (1st Gen) with kitkat 4.4.4. When I hook up my phone to my car sterio via auxilliary cord, the volume is so low I have to turn the volume on the stereo WAY up just to hear it. And the volume on the phone is turned up high as well. Is there something I can do about this? Would the quality of the aux cord have anything to do with it? Also the volume changes a lot on different tracks - some lower than others. Significantly lower. Any ideas?

When connected via aux cable, it's best to keep the phone's volume turned up to max, and then use the car stereo's volume control for finer control.

If you have the equalizer for the phone turned on, try turning it off, since that can sometimes contribute to lower volumes.
