How do i open my phone if i forgot my alternative password

I still have my fingerprint but i meed to know my alternative password, i came back from school and i forgot my password i have only been using fingerprints plese help me

What make of device? If you have a Samsung device, with a Samsung account and that account linked to your device, you can use the https://findmymobile.samsung.com and the 'unlock' feature there.

Andriod will periodically ask for pin/password even if you set up biometric , so if you dint have Samsung then your going to factory reset in recovery and need to know your Google password and email , this is Andriod security to prevent unauthorized users .

Welcome to Android Central! As mustang7757 mentioned, you MUST use your backup PIN/password/pattern periodically if you're using fingerprint -- that's because fingerprint unlock is actually LESS secure than PIN/password/pattern. That's actually spelled out for you when you set up your fingerprint.

You'll have to do a factory reset, but it'll have to be through the Recovery menu, since you presumably can't unlock the phone right now to get to the system settings. This will mean that it's an unauthorized factory reset, which will trigger Factory Reset Protection, and the phone will ask for the Google account and password associated with the phone. You remember that, right?

Which is why I don't understand how they can be using their phone over a period of time with just fingerprint. Unless this just happened which sounds suspicious since how do you forget a recent password?


Unless they join and respond will never know so my verdict is that this is suspect till I'm proved differently.

I dont know , we haven't had the full story .

Everyone is suspicious, or maybe life just taught me not to trust. Lol
