I am trying to receive my email from my work on to my personal phone which is an android s4.

Welcome to the forums. You have a couple options. You can sign into the work email under Settings>accounts>add account, or many other email apps allow you to sign into other email clients.

What is the work email client you are using? Yahoo, Gmail?

And what is the type of email server your work is using? (If it's Exchange, speak to the email admin - there are too many ways to mess Exchange up to discuss here, but the admin will know how it's set up.)
