How do I put music into this phone?

Reread his post. He said for local use, meaning transferring music from a pc to the storage on the phone and playing from there. There is no uploading involved.

I don't get what he is talking about either. Transfer mp3's one time via the usb cable. Start Google Play music. Set it up to play music "On Device" one time. Play music instantly from then on whenever you start Google Play Music......no waiting involved, nothing extra being downloaded from Google, no extra music showing up that you did not specifically put on the phone.

What other ways are there to get all of your music in the cloud that is faster? Pretty sure it has to do with your connections internet upload speed more so than it does GPM.

Amazon, for one.

My upload speed averages about 2 Mbps. It took two days -- 48 hours -- to upload ~1,200 songs. Other posters on here have reported similar upload times. I don't understand why it takes so long. I thought GP is a match-type service, where only a snippet of a song is required to find a match.

Not true. Google Play Music works just fine for playing music locally. Just transfer the music files (mp3's, whatever) to the music directory and select "On Device" in Google Play music instead of "All Music" and it eliminates music form the cloud and sorts the local music files by Genre, Artists, Albums and Songs. It also has enough other features for me.

So I stand corrected...

As a newly returned Android user, the desire of Google Play Music to connect to the cloud right off the bat really turned me off. I don't want iTunes type control over my content and I don't want the cloud managing my stuff so I disabled it without looking into it further.

Thanks for the recommendation-does it play flac?

JukeFox may or may not play flac... I can't find an aswer on this and have no flac files to test.
