Depends on the states that the parties to the call are in. Remember Linda Tripp?This is not illegal as long as one person in the phone conversation knows the call is being recorded. That would be me.

Not in my state it isn't. You really need to know the laws of the state that all parties to the call are in at the time the call is conducted.And it is legal to record phone conversations as long as one person in the conversation knows a recording is being made.
there are state laws on this, too. In California for instance, it is an all party consent state and if you record a call with someone who is physically in California at the time of the call and do not inform them you are so doing, you have committed a crime in California and are subject to extradition if California were to charge you with the crime.Federal law
