How do i reset custom notifications in oreo?

[Android Central Question]

I am looking for basic, user-friendly information--I mainly want to assign a unique sound to a handful of priority contacts. (I had this set up before the update, and now it's gone).

All I'm finding so far is either aimed at developers & too technical, or too vague to be helpful. Thanks!
