Restore files on galaxy s4

Needed to free some memory on Galaxy S4. I moved folders from Gallery to SD card. After moving each folder, I viewed on SD card. After last folder moved, everything disappeared. Where did it all go, and why? I've tried a few undelete/restore apps from Playstore, but nothing working. Can I get my folders/files back? Please help. Family pics, etc. Suggestions?

Thank you,
Laurie A

Welcome to Android Central! If you needed to free up some internal storage, it would have been better to copy those files over to your computer's hard drive, or upload them to cloud storage--at least for the sake of backing up. SD cards are not foolproof, and have a finite lifespan, so it's possible for files to be lost abruptly, with no warning. On top of that, some devices just don't interface with SD cards that well.

Try unmounting the card in Settings>Storage, remove the card, and insert it into your computer's SD reader. Can you see the files using Windows Explorer? If not, run chkdsk to see if there are any bad or corrupt sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html
