How do I set a custom SMS/text message alart/tone for a contact group

Hi !
I have moved from a galaxy s3 to s7.
On the old phone i could give a specific contact group its one sound/tone.
When a received a SMS/text from a member of that group, the phone played the groups tone and not the default tone.
On s7 I can only specify a custom ring tone. No custom SMS alert and no custom SMS vibration :'(
Do you know a solution to my problem.
I'll be pleaced if you will help me.

I know the possibility of giving contacts individual SMS tones.
But in my situation i often have to switch ca. 20 contacts between two tones depending on whether I'm on duty or not.
It is easier when they are in a group.

Simple. Go into Contcts > Groups > Create to create your group and add all your members to that group. Then, select group ringtone and pick your ringtone.

What I don't know though is if that contact of yours already has a personal assigned ringtone which one takes presedence. I'm assuming the Personal Contact ringtone takes presedence over group ringtones, but I don't know for sure. If that is true, just create a second contact for those individuals with no custom ringtones and add them to the group.

I'd be curious to know how this works out.

Get a couple buddies n set up a test group then see what happens

It is not the ring sound I want to customize.
It is the text message sound.
I am a member of a volunteer rescue team. I receive a text message from the team leader on duty when assistants is needed.
The leader on duty sends the text message out to ALL rescuers, because he do not know who is on duty at any time.
I only want to hear the loud nasty text message alert tone from the leader group when I am on duty.
Otherwise, I just want to hear my standard text message sound.
On the old Galaxy S3 I just changed the text message sound on the leader group.
I would spend awful lot of time changing the sound on every leader individually every time I went on/off duty!

It's too bad that Google broke this feature in later versions of the software. I too migrated from the S4 to the S8. No more Group SMS notification tweaking.
