how do i smartswitch my calendar from old phone to new

I have used smartswitch to transfer all my data over to my new Samsung 8 all good except that my calendar data hasn't transferred

Your calendar data is the data at https://calendar.google.com/calendar so make sure you're syncing the calendar in your Google account in your new phone (and that it's on the same account that the old phone was, of course).

It's your Google calendar only if you'd set it up that way. If your appointments were saved on the phone, that wouldn't apply. Go to Manage Calendars in the phone app on your old phone to see which calendar you were using. If it's Google, you're in luck. If it's Samsung and you have a Samsung account, your appointments will automatically populate the new phone too.
