How do I stop getting three different notifications for each voicemail?

AC Question

I am using a nexus 5x (this happened on my moto x as well) with Verizon, and have forced forwarding so that I use Google Voice for voicemail (because Verizon does not technically support Google Voice).

Every time I get a voicemail I get THREE separate notifications - a text message, an email, and a Google Voice alert. Before I set up Google Voice I still got two - the text and the email. How do I make this stop? It is completely excessive. I would like ONE notification per voicemail - ideally a Google Voice notification. It's particularly annoying because I have a limited texting plan so extra texts are not appreciated. I don't know if that's something Verizon is doing but the emails are definitely Google.

Thoughts? Every answer I've found online about how to revise your notifications doesn't seem to apply to my phone, because I can't find the menus anywhere.

Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! If you were getting a text and email before setting up Google Voice, then it may be a Verizon setting. See if there's a setting in the My Verizon Mobile app for this. Or go to your My Verizon website, log into your account, and look for voicemail options there.

Thanks! I will check that (I don't have the verizon app but maybe i should get it). I doubt the email is related to them though, even if the texting is, because that's not the email address they have on file for me. My guess is it's an android thing. But who knows.
