How do I stop my kindle fire from jumping around in movie playback

When I'm watching a movie on my kindle fire using Hulu or Netflix or Prime, it continually jumps back and forth in the playback time. It registers that I've touched it even when I've barely waved my hand over it. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem.
