How do I stop my wifi from auto connecting to wifi (LG G3)?

LG G3 auto connecting to wifi

When i drive around my phone tries to connect to any available wifi networks and annoys me with pop-ups asking me whether i want to do that.

Once i say no, it still takes around 30 seconds or a minute for the browser or other apps to start working because it still thinks its on wifi.

How do i stop it from trying to connect to other networks.

I can always manually turn off wifi but then i forget to turn it back on and start using my data when watching videos. I am on a verizon network.

I looked in the wifi advanced settings but i dont see anything,

My unrooted T-Mobile G3 doesn't have popups asking to connect. I have to connect to open wi-fi manually. Assuming I would do that

I hope you don't have to root your phone.
