How do I stop questionable software update on LG Stylo 2 (marshmallow}?

I have a new, unlocked LG Stylo 2. Lately I've been getting reminders to download a software update Version V10d-DEC-20-2016, size 48.31 MB.

Is this legit? When I try to install the update, it says it did not finish, or else it can't connect in some way or other.

I'd just be happy to get rid of it altogether. Is there a way?

if that is then it is really far back I remember when I bought my Stylo on 12/28/16 it had this update that it needed to download the new version update is VS83520d august 31st 2017 was the download date

it seems like every month or so there is a new patch I just hope they don't start slowing down the stylo 2 now that the stylo 3 is out with the new updates

I would say it is a legit update because if it is brand new out of the box it probably has the original marshmallow on it and needs to be updated so it can download the new patches...
