How do i transfer saved text messages from my Galaxy Note 5 to my Galaxy Note 8

You can download sms backup from the play store, back up your messages and save them to Google drive ( or whichever you use). Then restore them on your new device

I use sms backup and restore too. love it and have used it since my note 3

Use SmartSwitch. It would transfer nearly everything to the new phone.
