How to turn off Eco mode on Android 4.4.4

I bought an Acer Iconia One 8 tablet to process credit cards at trade shows. You plug the card reader in the earphone spot.
It worked fine for the first three transactions, then a message popped up saying that it went into Eco Mode to save battery life, which caused the card reader to no longer work. How do I get it out of Eco Mode? I found nothing online - also called Acer who sent me here. Most other brands have a choice under Settings/battery to turn battery saver on or off - this one does not (that I can find). Anyone have any ideas? or do I send it back and buy a different model tablet.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have any 3rd party power saving or "phone cleaner" apps installed, like Clean Master, DU Battery Saver, etc.?

I have downloaded a couple of games and ebook readers - the cc processing for Square - Amazon and Paypal - and APS to watch TV shows but nothing to do with battery saving. But most of what is on there is not actively running

If you reboot the tablet, does it remain in Eco Mode? If not, does Eco Mode turn on again after using the card reader?

I did reboot- but the card reader still would not work. I then tried to plug it in - and the card reader still did not work. But that is not a good option anyway and the plug in gets in the way of the card reader and you can't swipe cards correctly
However the next day when I turned it on again - it did process 1 or 2 cards before again going into Eco mode
