How do I turn off the shutter sound on the default Google Camera?

No root, GPS version... any way to turn off the shutter sound on the default Google Camera?

I turn the volume on the side down to vibrate, and the shutter sound is muted. Hopefully that will work for you.

I looked into this on XDA. There is not way to do this w/out root (can only lower the volume). If you are rooted you can rename a few sound files and it should do it.

I tried something with Tasker. When Camera starts, mute System Volume. When Camera stops (not Camera), unmute System Volume. It seems to work (although there's a lag in the unmute). Not elegant, but for the unrooted it might be a solution.
