AC Question

I just got this new phone and it's come with some annoying features with no "off" button in sight. One is the auto-emojis that appear only on my end of a text. They're so bad too! A simple :( looks like the emoji has the stomach flu or is about to drop from exhaustion. The ;) is creepy and way too happy. The :O (which we all know is shock) has furrowed brows, eyes shut, teeth barred and is screaming in rage. Who came up with these? They're awful, innaccurate and I can't turn them off. Please help.

Or you could install a different keyboard which comes with replacement emoji, like Swiftkey.

There isn't anything you can do about the emoji unfortunately unless you want to root your phone. The system emoji are there to stay. You can use 3rd party apps that allow for their own emoji set like textra, but the keyboards will not change your system emojis.

Marlin is correct, new keyboards do not change the system emojis. I have Swiftkey on a few phones in my family, but the different emojis all remained different across the different manufacturers.

I totally agree with you. The emojis from Samsung are just ugly! Koreans may find them appealing, but not Europeans. I wish I had not bought the Samsung Galaxy S7.

If it makes you feel any better, the people you're sending them too are still looking at it the same as before. So although they might not look good to you, they get to see what you intended, unless they have a Samsung phone

samsung's emoji's are terrible. it sure would be nice if they were customizable without rooting. i suffered through them in my note2-4 days. when i went to a nexus 6 it was so nice to have stock emoji back. now with the brief note7 and now s7e, im back to the crappy emoji. wife has a 5X and agrees, the stock android emoji are much better than on her samsung tablet.

I just reread your original post and your descriptions of the emoji don't seem to fit what I see. Exynos S7 Edge, on September patch.

You haven't seen ugly emojis until you've seen those on the V20. I love that phone but those emojis should be illegal.

😝 Here's my unwise opinion on this "Emoji's issue" Not defending
the Phone-Manufacturers. But they've the right to include their
Favs emoji's and other Texts enhancers. If a user don't like it..
Just install a 3rd party app or Don't used..A bit off topic
but what about the ACapp-Emoji's are likeable.?

I just can't believe emojis are a make or break for choosing a phone. LOL. Honestly, that's so far down on my priority list...

I don't think they're anyone's make or break but bad emojis are certainly worth at least mentioning to some of us.

I'm a little confused. My emojis look like normal emojis. What am I failing to understand here?

The original poster asked how to turn off the new bad looking emojis. The rest of us see normal emoji.
