How can I turn off the proximity sensor on Galaxy S9?

I'm on a very long and very boring call that doesn't need my attention... I'd like to play a game on my phone while I wait... but the problem is that my thumb goes over the proximity sensor and makes the screen go black.

How can I turn this off on an S9?

The screen will go blank on a call using speakerphone regardless of where your thumb is. This is the normal Samsung operating procedure for several phones now.

You holding the phone in landscape? Hold it the other way around landscape.
