How do I unblock short code messages on my phone

I just got a Star N9300 phone and activated it with Ultra Mobile Service. I tried texting some short codes on it but keep getting the message: Free Msg: Unable to send message - Message Blocking is active. Text messaging to regular phone numbers works fine though. I called Ultra's support and they said that they block short code messages. They did not offer to unblock the messages so I'm stuck. Is there a way I can get around this by programming my phone or a program I can install that will allow me to get messages. I am running Android 4.0 and it is an unlocked GSM phone.

There's no program or app or any workaround that will unblock short codes from Ultra mobile. The only solution is switch to another MVNO or wireless provider.

Any Android Fix Unable to send text messages to short codes or Premium SMS services Failed error!
how to turn off premium message blocking on android?
- Find application manager and go to All
- Scroll down to Messages and tap on Messages to see "Send Premium Messages"
- Change it from "Never Allow" to "Never Ask" or "Ask"

Hope this will help!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and followed your steps up to 'Send Premium Messages' I do not have this option, I have looked through every setting option to do with messages and cannot find anything to unblock this and it's driving me insane, please help!!!

Did you find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue.

After browsing through settings I managed to find the answer for S7. I dont know if this will work for other handsets as well. To correct the premium messages issue do the following,

- Go to Settings and then Applications
- Choose Application Manager - More - Show system apps
- Scroll down to 'M' and select Message Service. It should be the one with the green android guy.
- You should be able to see the option for Send Premium SMS and you can choose from 'Ask, Never Allow, Always Allow'

Hope this helps!!! :)

Totally works!!!

I don't have those options on changing short codes. Sprint told me I would have to do a hard reset to phone, go to store and they will backup contacts. Is this my ONLY option ?

Thank You for this post!!!! I called my phone company for technical support and they gave me the incorrect information. Many thanks to you!:)
