How do I unmount an sd micro card from a Galaxy tab A when the unmount is greyed out in storage?

New Tab A galaxy 9.7 - have inserted the16 gb sd card without formatting it and it is now stuck inside

The card is actually stuck? Sounds like you might have put the card in backwards.

Unmount means that it stops sending and receiving data to and from the card so when you take out the card you won't corrupt the information on the card. If the card is stuck in the slot, you can try a pair of tweezers to remove it.
It would be a good idea to turn off the device first.
