How do I use Penup/coloring app?

I found an article explaining how to find the coloring app on my new Note 8. I found articles explaining all the cool things I can do with Penup. However, I cannot find anything explaining how to use the app (it all seems to be one app).

1. I can color in pre-drawn pictures, but I cannot seem to save them. All the app wants me to do is join the community so I can share pictures. I just want to work on them during idle moments, such as when I'm watching mindless Netflix shows, and be able to save the unfinished projects to work on later. I'd like to be able to choose which ones, if any, I want to share with the world.

2. Everything I can find on the features of the app say that I can make my own drawings, but I can't find a way to get to the drawing part of the app. I stay stuck in the pre-drawn pictures. I'm currently using ArtFlow for drawing and I'd like to see how Penup compares. ArtFlow, at least, lets me save drafts to my phone and doesn't force me to share with the world before I am ready (and I may never be ready - have you seen some of the stuff out there?).

1. when you work on a pre-drawn picture that penup offers, on the main screen click on your avatar in the upper left. then you will see Edit up top and tabs that say posts, collections, drafts (that's where your saved pre-drawn picture drafts are to look at and to edit), fanbook. to save one in progress while working on it, click done and it offers "save and post or save only" and that saves it.

2. to draw from scratch, on the main penup screen hit the green circle at the bottom with a plus sign in it.

I just signed up for an account but when the kids want to save what they have colored I just choose the option for "save only"

Thanks! I still had to sign up (it was easy using my Samsung account) and that unlocked all kinds of features. And I found the "save only" so I don't have to share stuff.

I'm not having any issues with pre- drawn pics. I AM having issues when I try to open a photo drawing from gallery. Crop lines open cutting my drawing for coloring in half. It won't let me make it bigger. I can't find the drafts folder for penup to just move it there, and I'm getting really bent out of shape over it all!

I have a drawing. It's in my gallery (wasn't created with penup) I want to open it and color it in the coloring part of penup. It's a deer fawn. When I do "open photo drawing" it opens but refuses to let me include the little guy's ears! ARRRRRRRRRGH!
