How do I use Smart Switch to save individual files from phone to PC?

Hi everyone
I'm sorry but I'm a bit at a loss on how to use Smart Switch. I have a Galaxy S5 Neo and like a lot of people I would like to be able to connect my phone to my PC and export individual photos, songs, videos etc to the computer via a USB cable.
With previous Samsung mobiles I was able to use Kies - pretty dreadful software that was slow and kept crashing, but that's all there was. But with the S5 Neo Kies tells me I have to use Smart Switch instead.
Here's the problem - from the very limited options the Smart Switch interface gives me, it looks like this software is ONLY for creating & restoring backups (and synchronising with Outlook). One thing I did like about Kies was that there was a list in the left-hand window giving you options to copy specific and indvidual files and see those files, erase them from the phone, and so on. Smart Switch doesn't seem to have any of these options.

Am I missing something here? I've tried clicking the "more" button at the top right of the window but that just adjusts backup settings. I can't find where to click to get the options to import / export individual files... can anyone help me with this?

I notice that one person mentioned clicking the folder icon on the interface: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s6/521069-kies-smart-switch-data-transfer.html

But in my case there is no folder icon (see image).

Once you connect your phone to your PC, swipe down from the notification bar on your phone and change the USB settings. You should see something along the lines of "connected as a ..... ". Tap that notification and select whatever option has "MTP" as an option.

You should then be able to open Windows Explorer on your PC and just navigate through the folders like a portable hard drive.

Thanks for the replies folks and I realise I can navigate through the phone via Windows Explorer. The trouble is a lot of the data I want is hard to find.
Is there no way to get Smart Switch working the way it should? I mean, has anyone else had this problem with the folder icon not appearing next to the Smart Switch interface next to the phone details (see image I uploaded in original post)?
And if so, has anyone managed to resolve this?
