Use a file manager like X-plore or ES File explorer. These can be set up to access your wifi network so you can copy and paste from the PC to your phone

They do allow me to copy from the SD card inside the phone to the PC just fine.
Copying from PC to the phone's own memory works perfectly fine, however.

Thanks! Like the other apps that I've tried. It works fine for wiring from
PC to phone's internal memory. However, it won't let me copy from
PC to the MicroSD card inside the phone. Keeps giving me this message:
"Sorry, this directory is not writeable"
What am I doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. Those programs do not have write access to the sd card.
Here are the instructions of es-file explorer. The article is for HTC on lollipop, but works fine with an S7E on Marshmallow.
