How Do I? Wake my phone without pushing the side power button?

I just can't get used to this, push the button then swipe? Can I change it so you just swipe the black screen and it turns on? Or just touch the screen and turn on? Draw just a design and it turns on? Anything but pushing the side button.

I'd like a way to map the side button to the camera when the camera app is active, but that probably won't happen. Trying to take a self-portrait etc with a soft key doesn't work so well.

Can you wake the phone by using just the side button and no swipe? Turn off the swipe function somehow?

Yes, not out of the box, but "No Lock" app does that exactly.

An acutal slider would have been nice to swipe instead of swiping the whole damn screen....just sayin.
