All of my friends who have Verizon, have at least 18 gigabytes of data. I asked them how much they're paying, and they are all paying about $180-$200. These are all for family plans that include 2 lines, as well as their ipads. How do you get so much data? I just ordered an S7 and got 1Gb of data and monthly equipment payments for a little under $90 a month. The rep who set up the plan and Verizon's web site say it is an extra $15 per gigabyte. I was able to get an extra gigabyte on my prepay account by having them autocharge me, but that's not available on contract. So how are people getting massive amounts of data under $200? Wouldn't 18gb of data cost $270 (18x$15?). All I want is at least about 3-4Gb of data but I don't want to spend an extra $45 for it, especially if I don't end up using it.

The bigger family plans usually help them to get lower. 18 GB starts at $100 a month then $20 per phone so it depends what they have. Also they could have snagged a promo from before (like a double data deal).

If you get 3gb,you are paying $45(3gb)+$20 +taxes +device payment plan if applicable.

If you go up to $100($18gb)+20 +taxes +device payment plan if applicable

$20 is line access charge for a single line off contract. A second line would add another $20.

Im on a 40GB plan for $150 plus line access price. Right after they announced they are getting rid of unlimited, I jumped onto a 20GB plan since I use around 15GB/month with all the lines and then a few months later, they offered double data packages for the same price and I upgraded to that.

Also with Verizon, certain higher tier data plans qualify for an extra 2 gigs of data per line per month too
