how do stop websites from kicking me to the mobile version?

I can't find the setting on the epic. The mobile versions cut too much stuff.

Thanks.

I don't believe the stock browser does it (I am far from an expert though), but the Dolphin HD browser does. There are settings for mobile, desktop and iPad. The desktop and Ipad settings seem to work for just about everything I have tried except ESPN.

If you're running 2.2, go into the browser. There should be a setting for mobile view websites. Uncheck it.
To get more setting options, type "about:debug" (no www/http: and just the text, not the quotes.) The browser will appear to have done nothing, yet it has. NOW go into settings...You'll find a ton more settings now.

Under "UA strings" select "desktop".

You now have the full web on your browser.

Running 2.2 as in Froyo?

Works in 2.1 as well

+1 on Dolphin HD. There's actually an add-on for this feature. So just click to toggle between desktop and mobile. No need to dig into the settings.

I have tried the stock browser using the settings change above, changed it to desktop still getting mobile pages on a few.

Espn mobile for both, no matter the setting
Gamespot and philly. com i get full pages on Dolphin, but moble on the stock

Maybe it will work with 2.2, I dunno but I'll stick with Dolphin for now.

Good call. I have an Evo and have not used my default browser since Dolphin. Quick access to tabs, and history is great.

Doesn't always work though... I use Dolphin HD and love it, but some sites kick you to the mobile version no matter WHAT I do in Dolphin HD (add on or not)... Maxim is a great example... I think the College Humor site is another one, but I don't remember... seems like no matter what I try, those sites always redirect me to a mobile version, which is incredibly annoying...

This Maxim.com? Works for me. But then I have an Evo with Froyo. Maybe that's why?

Might be, mine pushed me to the mobile site. Can you go to ESPN.com and not get directed to mobile? That one has not worked for me.

This is one of the biggest reasons I returned my Epic for an Evo! The Evo and even the Hero with 2.1 has a browser setting to disable mobile sites. If the epic had this I probably would have kept it...
