How do you clean your phone?

I thought alcohol was hard on the oleophobic coating. I take a microfiber cloth and dry wipe till its clean.

Assuming you have a screen protector installed: remove any case and wash the case with regular soap and water, use a microfiber cloth and a 50/50 solution of distilled white vinegar and water. Dampen the cloth with the solution and gently wipe all surfaces of the phone and make sure the phone case is completely dry before using on your phone. Do not use the vinegar solution on a bare screen.

A lot of devices use oleophobic coating on the glass. It is not recommended to use any alcohol-based solutions when cleaning a capacitive touchscreen, neither is it a good idea to apply common household detergents, even if it's stated that they can be used for computer and / or TV screens. The aggressive compounds in such cleaners can easily wipe off the oleophobic coat and leave your glass “naked”.

Cleaning your mobile device's glass should generally be done with just a soft, cotton rag. In extreme cases, water-based solvents should do the trick – cleaners that are specifically designed for touchscreens can be bought at various outlets, just make sure to check the ingredients, as many manufacturers will feel no remorse in stamping an alcohol-based detergent as mobile-friendly. Also, applying the detergent to the rag, rather than spraying it directly on the screen, is a good idea.

I got this at walmart for 9 bucks. It is great for cleaning any tech.

I use pledge multi-surface antibacterial cleaner and spray a light coating on all surfaces and wipe it clean with a micro fiber cloth

Anything with a solvent or alcohol will tear down the oleophobic coating on your screen. Even spit and hot breath (acids in your mouth). Trust me... I've ruined numerous screens.

Purosol Optical solution is the safest and most effective method, using an enzyme formula that will not attack coatings. It is a little more work to use it as there are no evaporative agents in it, meaning you need a second wipe with a dry pad to remove it and the crap it has loosened. I use Photographic Solutions Pec Pads to apply and remove it.

You're welcome Jerry! (c;

Ideas for cleaning the speakers on an HTC One M8? Almost all the tiny holes are covered on mine. At least it gets Marshmallow next week.

I use alcohol pads and haven't ever had the white residue mentioned in the article.

Hand sanitizing wipes work great. Just wipe down with a microfiber cloth before it dries or it leaves a residue. Shiny and germ free when you're done.

My dad uses flash anti bacteria wipes which I'm sure are not good for the phone. I'm sure he's gonna wreck it one day. I tend to keep my phone clean by not putting it anywhere dirty. All I get on my phone is finger prints which I wipe off with a dry micro fibre cloth.

Nexus 6 is one of the hardest phones to clean. The dual front facing speakers tend to collect alot of dust and I usually try using cotton swabs to clean it. But its more like a hit and miss lol.

I just use one of my old lens wipers from my previous pair of glasses. And wet tissues but I rarely use that.

A microfiber towel and car detail spray works best for me.

There are two ways I have approached this. One is to use that neon keyboard cleaning slime stuff, though it's probably not the best choice since it's some sort of an alcohol based gel or something, and its soft enough to sometimes leave residue behind in tiny gaps and holes.

What I've found works really well on the earpiece slit on my phone is that blue-tack putty stuff used to hang posters without damaging walls and stuff. It's sticky enough when it's hand-heat warm to grab most of the crud and dust in the earpiece grille while being stiff enough that it doesn't get stuck as long as you don't mash it in there.

I don't have a nexus 6, but presumably it should work for about any phone.
