How do you feel about other phone operating systems ?

I'm not trying to start a flame war , just curious what aspects of android you find the most useful or what features or tasks are lacking in any other OS which prevents you from using them?

For me I love LTE , SD card( I know the gnex only has "32 gb" but its more than 16 gb which is what the standard is on iPhone 4 , one X one S etc and which isn't on most windows phones), and not having to use proprietary software to load pictures and movies on my phone . Also I love how if I want to download a podcast or picture from a web site I can long press on it and save it to my phone.

I love how simple IOS is... my 3 and 4 year old have and IPOD and IPAD and they work great (3yr old likes walking around taking pictures )
I even told my wife she could have an Iphone if she wanted just because they are so solid and just work (99% of the time)...
I love how open and flexible Android is... much more fun, even if you dont Root

Android's flexibility, customization, app intents (example: sharing a photo from the gallery to Facebook), speed, and voice recognition are awesome. Maps too. I love how everything is integrated and you can make stuff you use frequently accessible quickly via widgets or shortcuts. I dig its style now too. Way slicker than the 2.X days.

iOS on the other hand feels stable and quick, but getting around the OS is more awkward to me. There are some things you just can't do too (like sharing a photo from the Photos app to Facebook, it just isn't there). I would say iOS is more stable than Android but on the latest Gen hardware and software, say the Nexus 7 versus iPad 3, I have about equal stutters and crashes. I've actually not had an app fully crash out on the N7, but it happens on iPad more frequently than you would think. Especially Safari, which is rock solid 90% of the time but will brain fart on you once in a while. Maps is a bad joke on iOS. I can see why Apple is revamping it.

Android feels like an OS. iOS feels like a mobile OS. Best way I can sum it up.

Oh yea I forgot to mention the maps/ nav and the ability to share pictures to diff apps / locations !

I bought a iPhone on my second line and put their next OS, iOS 6. iOS is best way I can describe it is very childish compaired to JB on my Nexus. The lack of usability is unbelievable on iOS and I put the latest greatest thing Apple has. The lack of uniform buttons on iOS is extremely annoying. Example every app has a different button setup because the iPhone only has one button and all it does is go back to the home screen. Despite all the suing Apple does, a lot of iOS 6s features are a obvious copy of Android features. Like the notification pull down bar. I went into the iPhone with an unbiased opinion and this how I feel about iOS. I could NEVER replace my Android devices with iOS.

Strictly rating mobile OS core functionality my rating would be:

1.WebOS
2. Android 4+
3. iOS

I have only played with Windows Phone a little bit but don't own a device so can't fairly rate it.

WebOS is such a well designed OS. I was not happy when I broke my Pre+ beyond repair. It's fast, functional, intuitive, and the cards UI is really stellar. I couldn't justify putting more money into another WebOS device due to there being no more hardware releases, lack of apps available and an uncertain future.

A close second is pure Android 4+. I find the Galaxy Nexus really stable, user configurable and fast. Makes it really easy to optimize so I can get done what I need to in an instant.

I have an iPad 2 that I really like overall but iOS feels like a dumbed down OS. As mentioned by someone else, it is not as stable as everyone believes. Definitely force-closes apps way more than my Galaxy Nexus. My next tablet will probably be an Android tablet. I played with a Nexus 7 and it is awesome although the 7 inch screen isn't for me. A Nexus 10 would be my ideal tablet if it existed. Possibly a Transformer Infinity.

I love android because if there is anything you don't like you can change it. And that's even stock. Play store isn't limited and there are things for everyone. Rooted devices, Stock devices etc... I also like big screens which are only available with android devices for the time being.

IOS is cool because it just works. That's the only thing I really like. But iOS is soooo boring and I hate playing cat and mouse with apple because they don't want you to jailbreak the device. I really like their hardware minus the baby screen. Lol

I used to have a Samsung Focus WP7 which really made me appreciate that operating system. If I ever cheated on Android it would be with a Nokia Windows 8 phone

I agree with what was said about webOS it was a stellar os and the only limiting factor was the hardware and lack of support card based system was awesome and very easy to use. Too bad hp didn't try to make it better and expand the apps available for it.

I have never regretted moving to android though. My wife has the Iphone 4s and loves it but it just doesn't let me do what I want so I will stick with my s3 :-D which I have loved from the second I opened the box! The newest android even with touchwiz on top is the best yet and is very stable compared to my old dinc.

My stance on each different OS is varied.

For my personal nature of being an experienced tech and knowing my way around an OS I prefer android as my top Cell phone OS. I spend lots of time on my phone during the day, whether it be checking email, googling tech support issues that stump me, tethering my wifi tablet, making support calls, listening to music, playing games in my off time, etc... Yes, iOS would pretty much let me do all of that as well, but what iOS wont let me do is customize my layout once a week to something i dont mind staring at all day. iOS doesnt give me the option of widgets to quickly enable tethering when i need it, to see the weather report and any alerts or my calendar just by glancing at my home screen, to make the UI look as messy or as cut and clean as i want it. iOS is nothing but a bunch of icons with a drop down notification bar that is nearly useless because there are no icons that alert you to something being added to it, just an initial popup notification on your lock screen.

This is not to say the iPhone isnt a great device. My girlfriend is in dire need of a new phone (she still uses a dumb phone) and I wouldnt even consider upgrading her to an android device. I love her but shes just not all that tech savvy. She has an iPod touch that she picked up on easily and an iPhone really isnt far off of that. iOS is just easy for a general consumer, thus is why iOS devices are so popular.

Now, IMHO, the tablet market is a completely different story. As far as tablets go, I see iOS currently as the best choice for tablets. Any android tablet ive ever seen has had a very choppy experience with tablets (cant speak for the N7 as I have yet to see one in action) and in the business world the iPad is the top tablet choice. I have a 3rd gen iPad given to me from work and for work purposes the iPad is fantastic. What I believe is going to be even more fantastic, as far as tablets in a work environment is concerned at least, is going to be the Windows 8 tablets when they are released. Im not a fan of Windows 8 on desktop or laptop computers, but on a tablet I'm afraid I'm going to fall in love with it. If it makes my life easier by making me more effective while mobile I'll be all over it.
