For all those on stock, how do you install the monthly updates?
Do you wait for the OTA to arrive, or flash the factory image(one needs to have an unlocked bootloader for that), or apply the OTA image from ADB(Google is providing the OTA image since last month) ?
Or is there any other method that you use?

On a side note, this month's updates are online.
Factory Images - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
OTA Images - https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota

Flash every new image on day one. Simply can not wait. I modify the flash-all script so that phone data doesn't get wiped out (no phone reset). Only take minutes and I'm up and running on the latest.

I just received my Nexus 6p just two weeks ago and I am still on the may security patch, I check for updates but it says there are none. Am I waiting for carrier to approve or do I need to do something special for the update to initiate ?

Nexus devices are generally not carrier locked. The OTA usually arrives in 2 - 3 weeks. You don't need to do anything special for the OTA.
Though, if you want the updates immediately as soon as Google publishes them, you can manually flash it.

The 6P OTA update just started going out today. I received it about 5 hours ago. All seems to be fine after the install.
