How do you invite people into Google+?

I finally got in a little while ago. I have a few friends I want to invite in, but I don't know the "trick" to inviting people in.

EDIT: Agh, sorry, didn't realize there was a "How to" topic not too far down. I kinda saw it before, but I thought it was a "How to" for something else Google+-related, didn't see it was for inviting until I looked over some other topics. Ugh, yes, I'm stupid. v_v

I think they have closed invites as well at the moment. I am hearing of people that are getting them but they still can't get in.

Best thing I can see to do at the moment is fill in the update for and get an e-mail when things are open again.

Hm. I had a "Send invite" button on my Google+ page last night, but it seems to have disappeared. I tried the other method for some of my friends, but I think I'm doing something wrong, as it didn't work for them the same way it did when someone sent me an invite.
