How do you keep your phone feeling fresh?

I get bored of phones very easily. Maybe that's the reason I change it every other month. But since I've gotten the S7 I know there isn't any other phone I want or would want for at least a year. The only phone I'm looking forward to is the Nexus 2016 and the iPhone 2017.

Anyways. I usually keep buying different cases. Keep changing wallpapers and launchers. Well, not launchers. Just the wallpapers. I like the stock launcher on S7. Does what I need to do.

I'm bored. Already. I have almost 15 cases. I switch them up almost every day. But that's it. I rarely change the theme of the phone. Running out of ideas what to do.

What do you people do to keep your experience fresh?

15 cases?! New phone every other month?! You need help. 😆

Fabreeze.

Sorry couldn't resist. I don't use any different themes, or a wallpaper.
I love my phone for what it is, a beautiful looking phone, with a great camera which does everything I require from it. How could I get bored of it.

Sounds like you need a hobby.

Nah. Takes too much time to set it up to work exactly how I want it, with the Tasker profiles, the apps to be ignored by Twilight, the exact colors I want on ChompSMS which also would depend on the screen quality, the data downloads for the reference apps.

I just choose a theme and roll with it.

I think you just have too much free time on your hands.

Changing themes, wallpapers, icons and launchers keep me from getting bored and seems to refresh my device. I never run stock launchers for long as there are so many nicer ones out there. I generally have a half dozen or so stored on the phone and whenever I start to get bored I just change it out. Works for me. Changing phones is to damn expensive. IMO the new stuff coming out isn't that much of a game changer to invest another $500 or so. The newness factor wears off way to quick anyway.

wow a phone every month?!
i certainly dont go that far.....however in the past ive just changed launchers, wallpapers etc
since ive got my galaxy s6 edge i love it! I do have a couple of cases for it heavy duty for work (i work with motorcycles) and just a nice slim clip on
for home
i have got my own wallpapers on it just because i like to personalise it apart from that i cannot see me getting bored with my phone for a very long time! :)

I have two phones, an iPhone 5s and a HTC M8, I just alternate between the two every couple of weeks, it stops me getting too bored.

I understand this so well.

I usually buy cases, as well, and like you, launchers don't always appeal to me; but I switch up icon packs or themes every now and then. And actually, contradictory to what I just wrote above, I am currently using a Windows 10-esque launcher on my phone as we speak!

Also, wallpapers and lockscreen wallpapers. Oh, and SwiftKey. I change the keyboard themes up every once and a while, as well. And I change my fonts too.

Yup. I am so happy I have an Android phone... Customization central! :)

Minima Pro wallpaper, set to randomize every 5 minutes, 30 different pictures for lockscreens.

Works for me :)

Actually changing fonts and keyboards is a good idea :D I will try this! What keyboards do you think are the best? I've seen chroma keyboard reviews. Looks nice with changing colors in every app. I think I'll give changing fonts a try as well :) as I use a lot of messaging apps I think the experience will get better with these two tweaks.

And thank you for understanding. Other people here just keep on fixating on the fact that I have no life. Doesn't feel very good.

Hey there! Well, I've only really used SwiftKey (and Google keyboard, which I dislike); but I can tell you that SwiftKey has a LOT of options. I personally switch up keyboard themes constantly, but I'm currently using a black theme with neon pink highlights. I'll attach a photo so that makes sense.

But SwiftKey has a lot of free keyboards to download and also has packs of keyboards that you can buy (ie, they all share a similar theme, like "cubed" or "material light/dark"), and they even have "most popular keyboards" lumped into a category. The prices are fairly good and I've bought some packs from them before with my Google Play gift card (that's usually all I buy LOOL). In addition to being stylish and unique, SwiftKey has really good prediction and you can adjust the size of the keyboard and even undock it or whatever that is called!

... Yeah, I spend a lot of time on these things.

As far as fonts go, it's a really good way to change your experience. I'm sure Google Play has great fonts to choose from! Attach photos of your new fonts and backgrounds and keyboards so we can see! Happy browsing!

Good god, it's a PHONE. Make and receive phone calls, do email, text, browse the web, etc. How did you turn a PHONE into a hobby? How do you make that leap?

I had my Note 2 for over 3 years and the only reason I wanted the S7 was mainly to get a brighter screen I could see outdoors. Both devices are just phones.

If it's just a phone, why do people make the choices they make between different models?

Anything can be a hobby. As long as it isn't hurting anyone (and the individual can afford it), I don't see the issue. It's okay to see phones as tools for what you need it for, but I think it's unfair to state that anyone else who thinks differently is wrong.

(I replied to this thread to say the above statement, but additionally, just to see if anyone else has great suggestions like Morty shared.)

Op said every other month...

I just updated the background / keyboard to change it up. I use SwiftKey so I theme it up.

As for background .. Usually it is the Anime I am currently watching a bunch on Crunchyroll :).

Each to there own, my hobby is photography. Not cheap but at least I don't have to change my camera every other month.

If someone wants to change there phone every month that's up to them, it's there money.

I will say the S7 is a total PAIN to find the perfect protective case for. I got the Defender which is a good case but the screen protector gets dust in it and after removing it a lot the hard inner shell flexes a little and creaks, the Supcase has a tight, great built in protector but the overall case isn't that protective. I got a poetic revoultion, good built in screen protector but this version the overall case is very cheap compared to the note 5 and s6 versions. I got an Incipio level 4 case which I like but the raise lip isn't quite raised enough for me. I got the incipio level 5 case with built in screen protector. I really like this case a lot except the built in screen protector is very fuzy and distorts the quality of the AMOLED screen which sucks and it muffles the audio a bit. I'm probably just going to stick with the Defender then.

Oh and the Note 7 coming out in Aug or Sept is supposed to have a 5.8 screen and possibly an Iris scanner. Minus Iris scanner the specs won't be a whole lot different. It will have basically the same camera the s7 has so I don't see any reason why I would buy it. Last year I bought the S6, Note 5 and Note 5. I trade mine in at Tmobile and pay in whole. The thing that cost me money is my gun hobby. Since moving to FL last year though they don't have quality ranges near me. When I lived up in missouri I went to the range at least once a week and always trading in and buying new guns which costs a lot of money.
