How do you like the LED notifier?

I have a Fascinate, came from a few Blackberrys. I'm considering a DInc2 for its world phone capabilities. One of the things I really missed from my BB was the LED so I knew when I had an email, etc. I use NoLED on the Fascinate and actually find it superior because I have different symbols on the screen for different message types. Of course it eats a little battery in the process.

So how does the LED on the Inc2 work and how do you like it? Is it just one color or can you have it flash different colors for different things? Is it bright enough to see well in bright light?

dinc2 does have led notification although at first it is a little hard to see. it actually is embedded behind the ear piece at the top of the phone. I have only noticed an orange/red displayed while charging and a green for notification. I'm not sure if you are able to change the colors for certain messages. I remember using an app once with my original droid that would allow it to change to different colors, not sure if it would do the same with this phone as I haven't tried and can't remember what app i used. :D

PS:
My wife has the fascinate and we ran them side by side on our WIFI in the house. While the dinc2 did go a bit faster in loading things such as web pages, it wasn't a enormous difference. She loves her phone and touch wiz and I love mine with htc sense... but if you need a world phone you can't go wrong, just not sure it would be worth the upgrade unless you dislike what you have!

I am happy with what I have but do need a world phone and the DInc2 seems like a nice phone. I'm also hearing that battery life should be better.

I didn't think I would be able to see the LED light on the DI2 coming from the BB tour but I have been suprised. I have been able to see the LED from a little ways away. The only thing is getting used to the different colors, green for notifications vs. red on my tour. All in all I definitely like the LED in the DI2.

Can you change the color for different notifications or is it just green for everything?

I don't think you can, it's red when the battery is low, orange when its charging and green for notifications. Would be cool to get color variety according to different notifications though.

i wish the LED light was bigger and could be changed to display different colors like you could on a BB. but its all cool. minor gripe for an overall amazing phone.

wow, had the phone for a few weeks and never even payed attention to the led notifier lol. pretty cool though!

I just switched to Inc2 from Moto Droid and really miss being able to switch the LED colors. I had it all set up for different colors for different message senders.... Love this new phone but really miss the sweet LED on the MotoDroid...

i think there are apps. but even if there are, i don't think the dinc2 is capable of it.

Check out the app NoLED. I use it on my Fascinate and its great. And its free.

I hate it. I'm coming from the original Droid, so I'm used to

1) Having a light that constantly blinks or stays on until I check it

and

2) Having a light that is bright enough to illuminate the ceiling in a dark room.

The Dinc2 only has a green light for notifications, and an orange light for charging. The notification light only stays on for 5 minutes then shuts off. I finally got around this by installing an app called "Missed Reminder" and that keeps the light blinking until I check. Fantastic (hint: set the notification interval to 1s...this worked the best for me).

BUT, when you are charging the phone, the light turns orange and stays that way even if you get a notification. So if you get a notification while you're charging and either the phone is silenced or you don't hear it, you have no idea.

Also the light is really hard to see unless you look at it head on.

I think it was to save the battery but seriously, it's an LED, you'd think that it would save the battery more than turning the display on to check. Also, if the phone is under 20% the green and orange alternate, why not let the green work when it's charging as well?

You'd think they would have some setting where you could set it to be as long as you want. How do these sorts of things get around beta testers?

there are a lot of things from many companies that i wonder this same exact thing. (charging port with the thunderbolt kickstand comes to mind )

I have a BB now, and for the first 11 months I had all LED notifications turned off. I only had an app to change the colors so I could make it ring and vibrate at the same time. Lately I've messed with different colors for stuff but mostly dont pay attention since my phone is in my pocket most of the time. Custom vibrate settings are a big deal for me, how does DInc2 do in that dept?

Dinc2 doesn't have custom vibrate settings, but no Android phone I've used does. Usually it's each individual app that may allow you to set individual settings.
