How do you mass delete Gmails?

I know to touch the little box to the left to select multiple emails for deletion. The problem I have is my wife isn't into the phone thing as much as I am so she will have something like 300 emails sitting in her inbox. It's a major PITA to select each one, then delete. I tried long pressing and checking the menu items.

Is there away to tell the darn thing to delete all emails vs. having to select 300 separate emails for deletion?

Only through the web interface, and still you're limited to the amount of e-mails you've set as visible per page. You select the top check mark to select all visible messages and then hit Delete.

Pardon me for asking but, 300 emails? Is that per day?

No, it's just when I pick her phone up after a week or so and notice it is full of FB notifications, promotion and other emails and app up-dates. Basically she came from a dumb phone and sees no real need to deal with any of that. As long as it
makes calls and she likes looking at her email on her phone but deleting them isn't a high priority so I bat clean up.

She can turn off Facebook notification emails. Or you could do it for her.

You can also create a filter in Gmail to automatically delete the emails you know are junk (i.e. Facebook). That will make your job of deleting from the phone easier.

Have fun deleting those from your phone!

For the people saying turn off FB notifications, they are off. It's her work email, she is a headhunter and gets a lot of emails.

Just remember that, unless you set it up that way and are using the Stock GMail app, those e-mails are NOT in her phone... As long as she reads them online and sync for that account is on, there should be no notification, just a growing Inbox with a growing storage quota.

My ideal solution would be to coordinate a mass raid on all Google's servers and pull the plugs.

Not ideal for every Android dependent, but come on, they want to know way too much.

(OK it won't delete their hard drives, but humour me. I'm having a fantasy here.)

I get about 75 emails a day. I just make sure I delete every day.
