How do you play google cardboard games/apps on Samsung gear VR with Galaxy S7

Is there any way to play google cardboard games on Gear VR using Galaxy S7?

If you download Package Disabler Pro, you can disable the Gear VR services temporarily so that you can use Google Cardboard apps, though the experience won't be as good as Gear VR-specific apps are.

Will the Phone stay secure? Because when I put my phone on the USB holder it locks the screen or goes to the home screen.
