How do you remove incorrectly entered email from the autocomplete suggestions on Android?

I have a Galaxy S5 and when I incorrectly enter an email address, the email app remembers the incorrect entry and it shows up as I am typing the correct address. Right under the correct address. I want to remove the incorrect address but every forum I found seems to indicate this is not possible without wiping the device. Absolutely crazy that Google hasn't added a hold and delete option to manage remembered / incorrect email addresses. Anyone have an idea where the incorrect addresses are stored and how to remove them without having to wipe the phone?

I have checked Gmail contacts, Exchange contacts etc, the incorrect address appears to only exist on the phone in some database.

Picking up on this very old thread, does anyone know the answer on how to removed remembered email addresses? For me it happens across my third-party email client as well as the google gmail client so I assume it isn't app specific.
