how do you remove the dock

I don't know if its called the dock or not, the area on the bottom where your app drawer icon sits. Anyways is there a way to get rid of it or at least change the transparency? I have a live wallpaper and its just in the way.

Grab a third party launcher like Nova, Go Launcher, etc... They all have the option to remove/hide or alter the dock in many ways. Same goes for the status bar on the top of your device, that can be disabled/hidden on some launchers too...
