How do you store your photos? SD card, Google photos, both?

I was so happy to see the S7 had support for an SD card, and I save all my phone's photos on it. However, lately I'm wondering if I should use a cloud service like Google Photos instead. I love the idea of an SD card, but cloud storage is great insurance in the chance of your phone being stolen or broken.

I'm curious how others store their photos.

I store mine on my SD Card as well as have them backed up to my personal cloud. I have a WD MyCloud NAS device on my network and they auto upload via the WD photos app.

I use both the SD and have Google Photos automatically backing them up. There are lots of benefits, namely that as long as you choose High Resolution backup, there is unlimited storage for your pictures to back up. That is huge (as opposed to other fruity devices that only allow up to 5GB backup space).
Having the assurance that every picture I take is automatically backing up is priceless. Too many times I have had an SD card or a phone crash with non-recoverable pictures. In the past, it wasn't as big a deal as the cameras weren't all that good so I didn't use it as much. But with the camera on the S7, I find myself forgetting my DSLR camera and using the S7 more and more often.
Another thing, it sure makes sharing photos/photo albums easier - just provide the sharing link and that album can be accessed by the person you give the link to. And it makes it easier to get pictures to my computer. I take the photo, then when I get home I just look at Google Photos via my browser on my computer and the picture is there to either share,download, edit, whatever.

why just one? why not both?

Well several ways. 1) SD-Card 2) Auto backup to google photos 3) Amazon photos (unlimited full sized storage with prime).

Once every 3 months i copy the content of the sd-card onto PC and dump it on dropbox.

SD card for local storage. Google drive and One drive for cloud storage and then I back up once a week to my laptop. Then I back up my laptop one a fortnight to a spare drive.
Might be overkill but memories can never be replaced.

Everything saves to my SD card and is backed up to my Dropbox, which in turn in loaded onto my laptop when I have it on.

Some pics get saved to my internal storage and every now and then since I'm anal, I go through and organize, move, delete, and upload whatever I need to wherever I need.

On my SD card, my computer's hard drive, on Google Drive and on Mega. (If California and New Zealand both disappear, I'll have more to worry about than photos.)

Sd card and my laptop. I'm not interested on putting my pics into someone else's database. I hate all this cloud crap. Will never use it.

I have mine going to the SD card and then two cloud services. One of these cloud services replicate them to my two laptops and main pc. My pc then does an internal mirror of the photos too. You can never be too careful. I've had hard disks and pc's crash before.

SD card, backup to OneDrive, once a week I declutter the SD card to just favorites and show-off-the-dog pics and move the rest to PC.

SD card then to Google Photos backup. That way I have a local backup and one in the cloud.

Aside from the benefits of online backup Google photos also gives you automated albums, collages etc as well as nifty search features (search for dog or Boston etc).
