Hey so what I am trying to figure out is how to add movies to my phone.

I have looked but I haven't been able to find any helpful information. I then goofed around with various folders seeing if it would work and gave up in frustration. So I downloaded the astro file manager app and but when I click on the movie, it says file type avi not found. I then tell it to play as a video and it opens sound plays for 30 seconds, no image and then goes back to astro screen.

I am wondering if there are free apps or some trick out there ( I have heard about rockplayer but you have to buy it) that will enable me to be able to use my phone as a mini theater.

thank you for your help.

VPlayer Beta - Android app on AppBrain

You can easily convert just about any video to the format you need using HandBrake. Just choose the iphone/ipod video profile and your off.

HandBrake

smartphones shouldn't make you re-encode video. Mine doesn't...

I have an Evo4g it plays everything I stick on the micro SD card with.... rockplayer...... in the market....free. Converting isn't something the Lord of the Droids (htc Evo) ...will ever make you do... just drag drop and play.... maybe yours will run Rockplayer the same way?.... your rig is called Incredible, isn't it? Worth a shot... Evo has saved me hundreds of hours encoding and converting time in just a few months. Haven't found a codec/video extension it won't play natively or with Rockplayer. It's why I chose Evo over the other smartphone. It doesn't make excuses- Evo just does it.

Ok, maybe this will help then. My brother uses the iphone4, and sends me movies he takes on his phone. My Dinc will not play the .mov files that he sends. Will rockplayer play these?

I'm not here to debate Iphone vs Android. I made my choice, he made his, now I just want them to work. Also, anyone have any luck emailing videos they took with their phone to others? Everytime I try, the phone tells me it sent, but the people that I send to tell me nothing is attached.

I use rockplayer, too. It plays .avi files just fine, but I have not been able to get it to play .MOV files.

According to RockPlayers website it supports .MOV though I have seem some posts stating that the MOV support depends on the codec used. I'd download it and give it a shot.
