How do you turn smart stay off

My wife has the Note 2 and would like to turn off the smart stay feature, I have unchecked the option in settings but the eye icon still shows in the upper portion of the screen. Is there another step involved?

That should do it. Did you try turning the phone off all the way and then back on? Sometimes that does the trick.

I did reboot but the icon is still showing, have you tried it on your phone?
