How do you use your Edge Panel?

This is my first edge phone so I am hoping to see more ideas from users on uses for the edge feature. I set it up when I got it and completely forgot it was there...until I accidentally hit with my hand. LOL I really should give it a good workout before I decide it isn't something I will use.

Multi-Window - apps that open small over whatever you're doing (after they open, you can also choose to further minimize them to a floating icon like Facebook Messenger pops up as or to maximize them), so I have handy apps like Calcu (calculator app), Fraction (calculator that works with fractions),

How is multi window part of edge panel? I can't seem to find that.

I use it for my fave contacts and my most used apps. That way I keep a clean home screen

bottom right button is voice control...use it ALL the time. I don't like saying "Ok google."

I set it up, but rarely use it. Same thing for my husband's....we put the sports edge on his, but it's so delayed, it's useless...it's at least 2 days behind, so why bother. I'm kinda surprised because I thought I would use mine, just easier from the home screen.

Mainly just the apps panel. Having all of my most commonly used apps just a swipe and tap away, no matter what I'm doing on the phone, without having to go back to a home screen first, is great.

Everything disabled. It's a gimmick to me with not enough pixels around the edge to be truly useful.

Looks cool though and I'm happy with that.

Not enough pixels? I think you might be thinking of the Edge Feeds, not the Edge Panels. The Edge Panel is what you drag open and it uses either one section of the screen or the whole screen (depending on which panel you're using and how you have it set) for app icons, widgets, tasks, etc. The Edge Feeds is what you see when the screen is off (or on Always On) and you rub an edge to see feeds like notifications, news, sports scores, etc.

Check the Download section in the Edge Panel setup for the additional Edge Panels that didn't come pre-installed on the phone. Some you have to pay for, and I believe the Multi-Window one is a paid one (less than $2). The only one I have tried that I wouldn't recommend is the Messaging one, as it not only doesn't show pictures in the text chats, but doesn't even tell you there's a picture text message to use the Messaging app to see!

The bottom right circle is "OnCircle". Doesn't this only work if the recipient also has OnCircle?

That's only on the one People Edge Panel; there are many panels you can customize and use. It sounds like SurfnSun placed a voice command icon on the App Edge or Widget Edge.

Those of you who don't use it, I am curious why you bought the Edge phone over the non-Edge phone if you're not interested in using the Edge features?

I recommend using the app "the Score", which has two great widgets you can use, plus can alert you with game starts, score updates, etc. and you tell it how often you want it to refresh. It is always up-to-date!

I like that I can open other apps without having to go back to the home screen, especially for apps I wouldn't have room for on the first home screen if I didn't have the Edge. The Multi-Window is especially useful for opening up the calculator app I use as a small window over my current app - don't have to remember the numbers I want to input since I can read them from the full-screen app and such.

Bigger screen and battery. If there had been a large flat version I'd have bought that.

I turned it off as I didn't find it that useful and it seemed to have an impact on battery life.

Interesting ... I had it enabled and set up but always forget to use it (old habits die hard LOL). I turned it off last night after reading your comment and will be curious to see if I notice any battery gain (not like I was getting terrible battery life with it enabled, but more is always better IMO 😊)

I use it quite often. Like another poster mentioned, to get quick access to apps from anywhere without having to go to homescreen or using recent apps when phone is locked.

I use Weather panel (motorcyclist, so I check weather often), Apps edge (mostly for business), Tasks edge (few direct dials, adding alarms, events, etc.

I really like the whole edge concept (Note edge/S7E) that said I don't use the edge screen as much as i did on the Note edge, I think this is because on the Note it was an independent screen element that was always there. On the S7E it seems more like an app you have to activate and it takes over your screen. I am really hoping that the next version of the Note Edge will keep the original screen type. (I think it's more useful as a separate screen element that acts independent of the main screen) just MYHO..

Cheers

I mean I use the edge panels to an extent, but for me the important thing was that the edge is bigger than the standard S7, and the curved glass just gives it a sleeker look.
