How does the HTC 10 display compare to the competition?

I have read most of the available reviews out there and most people are very pleased with the new SLCD 5 display. Some have mentioned a slight color shift from various angles, but apart from that nothing major...until I found a review on a German website: HTC 10 Test: Starkes Flaggschiff mit kleinen Schwächen

Is this really how the HTC 10 display look like? It looks dimmed and completely broken. Can anybody that has used the device (I guess the AC staff) say something about it?

Have a look at the attached pictures.display-htc-10-vs-s7-1024x674.jpgdisplay-HTC-10-vs-g5-1024x576.jpg

Hard to believe that's representative. I've heard the phrase "just as bright as the S7" in numerous hands-on reviews.

LCDs are always going to look dimmer when viewed from an angle, compared to LEDs... especially Samsung LEDs.

Not really a concern to me, as it's still plenty usable.

These pictures don't concern me, either. Still, it's nice to get an idea what the brightness will look like if I ever try to read the screen whilst pointing it at my belt. :D

Good point. I thought it strange that they chose to stand them like that.

Don't worry about the screen. In about a month of using it the screen will become more clear and brighter. For some reason it takes a little while for the glue to dry properly. M7, M8 and M9 did the same thing.

This is a video by Mobiwatch.net. The reviewer starts talking about the screen at the floor minute mark, and he holds it at some pretty extreme angles. Looks alright to me

I can see how the dimness can be a concern. But at that angle? No. It's like snapdragon vs exynos on the S7. Are you really going to notice the difference in everyday use? Probably not, since most don't hold it angled like that. I think lol

You can make anyone or anything look unappealing in a photograph if you muck about with the angles long enough. These examples don't show a shortcoming of the device, but the laughable lengths some will go to prove their "point" (or, more accurately, confirm their bias).

It's hard to judge from pictures.

As I've said quite a few times, the best way to judge for yourself is to look at it in person.

Though if you're strictly limited to getting it online, get more info from other reviews to build a complete picture of how it's like.
