How Does Voice Dialer Work on ECO5?

The only way my Voice Dialer works is with a bluetooth headset. Just using the mic on the phone or a plugged in headset--it doesn't hear my voice at all?

I didn't have the Epic before the EB13 update and so I don't know if it worked before but it's never worked on my phone?

Is there some setting that I am overlooking?

stock epic has a lot of bluetooth issues i know there was a dev ages ago working on swapping the bluetooth stack for another one that worked much better but i dont know what happened to him, or what all is wrong wiih the current one

Thanks. Actually it's the Voice Dialer not bluetooth that is a problem. Since Voice Dialer doesn't work at all if I don't use bluetooth....

I can't even get the dialer to hear my voice---I get a message to Try Again after restarting the phone.

When I had Voice Dialer on my Treo (a few years ago!), you would calibrate the dialer to your voice first and it worked very well.

Any suggestions?

How are you initiating the call? On mine I hold down the Search button, then I say "Call <such & such>" and then it calls them, or gives options if there are options to give.

That actually initiates Voice Search (but thanks for that short cut) which does work.

Is there a similar way to initiate Voice Dialer?

And perhaps there is no need for Voice Dialer with Voice Search?

Well there is a separate app called voice dialer, but initiating it thru voice search seems to be the fastest way.

My Problem with voice dialer is that I cannot here the commands through my bluetooth. My bluetooth works fine, i can hear the other person with no problem. Its the voice dialer that i cannot hear. The volume is way low. When i push the button for bluetooth the very faint voice says "what do you want to do?". Is there a way to turn up the volume on the voice dialer so as to hear the voice dialer better. I have tried volume master app, but that does not help.

The bluetooth voice dialer uses in call bluetooth volume. There is no separate volume adjustment that I can find. I beleive it's defaulted to a lower volume so it won't hurt your ear.

However, you can crank the volume up with the up volume button as soon as you launch it.....

I went to the market and downloaded "Choice Dialer+ Free". Works a lot better than the stock voice dialer that came with the epic. Plus you can hear the voice prompts with no problem at all.
