How exactly does Galaxy watch sync your texts from your phone?

My service is TextNow, and all my text messages (and calls) go in and out of the TextNow app. I'm worried if I dish out the money for a Galaxy watch, that it will be useless because I won't be able to get my texts on the watch because of my phone service....so, does Galaxy watch sync with the phones system "messages" or some other way? If the watch uses the phones Android "messages" app then I'm screwed, since my texts don't go in or out of that app....plus, is there a way around this?

I used Textra and couldn't get text messages to my watch unless I switched to the Samsung messages app.
