How fast does HTC push security and OS updates?

Never fast enough

It isn't about fast enough. It is about getting them at all. I am not blaming HTC alone, but VZW has rolled out updates for SGS7 and SGS6 for June and July while we didn't even get up-to-date devices at launch. And nothing from HTC on the matter doesn't make me feel like they are trying too hard. If they had just released a universal device and kept them all updated, we wouldn't be having this conversation. And that IS their fault.

when you say that they should have done just a unlocked phone like I brought which I use on AT&T. Verizon is the one that asked HTC to make a Verizon version for them so blame Verizon for the late updates. because my unlocked HTC 10 is up to date.

HTC didnt commit to monthly security patches. Samsung and LG did. HTC said it was "unrealistic".

HTC will roll out the new Android version quickly. I have no doubt about that.. But dont expect anything for the monthly security patches...

Even those who got them for the first couple of months, I would suspect it came bundled with a larger update while they were still tweaking the phone to optimize it..

The M9 didnt get it every month and it stopped getting the patches a good few months back.. The A9 isnt getting it either (I think. please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Samsung takes a longer to update the OS version.. It took longer than the M9 for my current S6 to get Marshmallow.. but I have been getting the security patches every month.. Got the July patch about a week back too.. for last years flagship..

I know HTCs resources are stretched and they probably dont think anyone cares.. but it'd be nice if they took this more seriously.

Unfortunately, not all of us have much of a choice with Service Provider. Especially in the Rural South West. Just look at coverage maps. Not such a big deal in the eastern half of the US, but much more spotty out west. If I could have switched to TMO and gotten the unlocked 10, I would have. But I couldn't and I didn't have much of a choice. And I never said VZW was without blame. I am not impressed with either company.

Like I said, I had no real choice, and when/if I do in the future, I won't be supporting either company. And I like my 10. A lot.

Actually you do have some real choice. AT&T has almost the same exact coverage as Verizon Wireless does. I should know I have AT&T and I've been almost everywhere my dad has who has Verizon. So you could buy the unlocked HTC 10 from HTC and use it on AT&T it's been a great experience for me. It's just a suggestion if you really want they just eat it and fast updates.

While Verizon isn't without blame here, HTC didn't give Verizon/Sprint users the option to buy the phone unlocked for faster updates. If Google, Apple, and Motorola can do it, I don't see why HTC couldn't. I would have gladly paid full price for an all-carrier, unlocked 10. Disappointing.

I agree, if HTC had made a unlocked version that worked with VZW, I would have bought the phone already instead of trying to hold out for the next Nexus.

It is not HTC's fault both Sprint and Verizon one of their own versions they did not allow HTC to do unlocked phones on their Networks that is the bottom line. Apple has more pull than they make more money. Samsung has no unlock devices on Verizon so those updates take just as long and if you talk about Motorola they're not on mine either and those updates also I have to go through Verizon. This is all except for the Nexus 6p which comes from Google. That's the only exception. I don't know why Verizon would not allow the unlocked version on their Network they just don't.

This is simply not true. The unlocked S7 and S7Edge work on VZW's network. It's likely HTC just did not want to spend the time and/or money to make it run on CDMA networks. Check your "facts".
