I have 500mb free on my nexus 7 but I still get the insufficient storage alert when I try to install app's even as small as 10mb! how do I fix this?

I think I read somewhere that android automatically alerts you when you get below 1 gb. Don't quote me on that though.

You will continue to get them. Don't tell me let me guess. You bought the 8GB Nexus7 because all your stuff is streamed from or stored in the cloud, right?

you get alerts when you go below 10% of storage but 1 gb is the cap i believe.

get it to 800 mb and it should stop. rebooting the nexus will clear some blocked storage.

I bought the 8gb because that's what I could afford. but I alleviate your Rudd, sarcastic comment.

the problem is these aren't just alerts,
it also stops the updates from installing. rebooting hasn't helped

You Carn't do anything you just have to delete a few things.

This.

Most operating systems that end in the letter "x" default to high water marking on the drive(s). That's meant to make sure there's enough space for the root user to get on the system and deal with problems that may come up.

I would like it if Google would make the storage limit smaller, so it could be easier to judge how much real space you have left.

I'm only a Kidd... so there for I don't know what insufficient storage is but .... I Know when I try to download Ann app it won't let me.... and can some one tell me how to delete an app:-!

@Jessica, pretty simple. In your app drawer, select the app you want to delete, "long press" the app and drag it toward the top to where it says "Remove." Then, it should open up the app and you can Force Stop, Clear Data and Uninstall.

Or... You can go to Settings>Apps>(choose your app)>Force Stop>Clear Data>Uninstall. Hope this helps. ;)

This did not work me for, so I guess my "insufficient storage available" issue is something else. The "fix insufficient space error" is not listed in the troubleshooting pop-up menu (only install SU (which I have) and update busybox). I believe the issue I'm experiencing is related to the 4.43 update (dated 07/15/2014) for the Paranoid Android KitKat ROM, but I cannot prove this. All I know is the problem was not there with the previous version 4.42. I also have nearly 17.5GBs free on my Nexus 10. :(
